BackgroundAlong with the aging process in our society, the amount of peri-menopausal women was also rising, leading to the increased number of women with coronary heart disease (CHD). Some of those women even suffered acute myocardial infarction (AMI). As peri-menopausal women was often accompanied with nerve, psychological endocrine and metabolic system disorder which are similar to the symptoms of CHD, the peri-menopausal women with CHD was often misdiagnosisded and lost the optimal time of prevention and treatment; some healthy women are mistaken as CHD patient and accept CHD therapy treatment, which increases the economic and psychological burden.ObjectiveThe aim of our study is to investigate the risk factors of peri-menopausal women with coronary heart disease so that we can do better in directing peri-menopausal women to prevent CHD,MethodsWe retrospectively studied160peri-menopausal women who were hospitalized in cardiovascular center of Beijing friendship hospital from January2008to December2013.91of them were diagnosed as CHD by coronary angiography, the other were healthy control. The risk factors including family history of CHD, hypertension, diabetes, smoking, dyslipidemia, hypersensitive c-reactive protein, magnesium ion, low hemoglobin levels, mean platelet volume, bilirubin and uric acid were explored. The differences between the CHD group and control group were analyzed with T test and Chi-square test.ResultsThe levels of serum total cholesterol (TC), low density lipoprotein (LDL-C), triglyceride (TG), hypersensitive c-reactive protein(Hs-CRP), fasting blood glucose(FBG), and the incidence of diabetes in the CHD group were significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05). The CHD group also demostrated increasing trend in smoking, hypertension and family history of CHD compared with the control group, but the differences were not significant. No differences were found in magnesium ion, low hemoglobin levels, mean platelet volume, bilirubin and uric acid between the two groups (P>0.05). The ratio of electrocardiogram change was significantly higher in the CHD group than in the control group (P<0.05).ConclusionsWe concluded that the serum total cholesterol (TC), low density lipoprotein (LDL-C), triglyceride (TG), hypersensitive c-reactive protein(Hs-CRP), fasting blood glucose(FBG) and diabetes history were main risk factors for coronary atherosclerosis in peri-menopausal women, it may be beneficial for peri-manopausal women to control these risk factors in order to prevent CHD. Furthermore, the ratio of electrocardiogram changes was significantly higher in the CHD group than the control group, indicating that electrocardiogram changes should not be ignored when making diagnosis of CHD in peri-menopausal women. Coronary angiography is the only "golden standard" to diagnose coronary heart disease.
