Objective:To evaluate the perception of facial profile attractiveness of lower anterior face height in high-angle female by orthodontists、patients and laypersons, and to find out the differences among them. Select the twenty-seven high-score and twenty-seven medium-score in evaluation outcome, measure their cephalometric X-rays, and find out the cephalometric indexes related with the profile esthetics in order to provide reference and base for clinical planning and effect prediction.Methods:1.The first part was the evaluation of facial profile attractiveness of lower anterior face height in high-angle female by orthodontists、patients and laypersons.200high-angle females were selected according to certain standards. Traced the profile silhouette of cephalometric X-rays, and randomly arranged. The participants were asked to score each image using a10point numerical scale. The profiles were rated once again after2weeks to assess the rating repeatability. All the scores of the profile were analyzed by a statistic system.2. The second part was the analysis of the soft and skeletal tissue in high-score and medium-score groups and to find out the sensitive indexes related with the profile attractiveness of lower anterior face height in high-angle female. Measure the lateral cephalometric radiographs of the two groups. SPSS16.0software was used to compare the differences of the measurements.Results:1.The results of the first part:(1)Significant differences were observed among the3groups (P<0.05);(2)The distribution trends of scores for high-score samples evaluated by orthodontists patients and laypersons were basically consistent.2. The results of the second part:(1) There were many measurements of the soft tissue which were different statistically between high-score group and medium-score group:LL-Bs-Pog’(P<0.05)、Pog’Bs-FH (P<0.05)、H angle (P<0.01)、Sto-Me/Sn-Me (P<0.05)、 Si-Me/Sto-Me(P<0.05)、the distance of upper lip and lower lip to E-line(P<0.01),the distance of mentolabial sulcus to E-line (P<0.001).(2) There were three measurements of the hard tissue which were different statistically between high-score group and medium-score group: Pog-NB(P<0.001),the distance of L1-NB(P<0.01)、the angle of L1-NB(P<0.05),the distance of U6-PP and L6-MP (P<0.05).Conclusion:1. The esthetics requirement among orthodontist、patients、and laypersons were different. Orthodontists should talk over with the patient to decide treatment plan.2. The sensitive soft-tissue indexes related with the profile attractiveness of lower anterior face height in high-angle female were LL-Bs-Pog’、Pog’Bs-FH、H angle、 Sto-Me/Sn-Me、Si-Me/Sto-Me、the distance of upper lip and lower lip to E-line、 the distance of mentolabial sulcus to E-line, most related with chin.3. Have a good control of lower incisor is very important. Therefore extending the curly lower lip and increasing the mentolabial sulcus can create a more beautiful profile.4. In clinical, we should pay attention to the control of vertical anchorage.
