Objective To compare the value of ultrasonography and CT in diagnosingand T-staging of sinonasal malignancies.Materials and Methods Ultrasonography and CT were performed inseventy-one patients with sinonasal malignancies. In the2DU condition, size, boundary, shape, internal echo and the adjacent structures were evaluated. Finaldiagnosis T-staging was confirmed by biopsy. For comparison of data obtainedseparately from US imaging and CT, accuracies were calculated separately andanalyzed. Results In71patients with nasal and paranasal sinus carcinoma,68caseswere found by ultrasonography,71cases were detected on CT. The accuraciesof ultrasonography and CT in the diagnosis of T1,T2,T3,T4staging nasal andparanasal sinus carcinoma were87.5%、66.7%、83.3%、90.3%and93.8%、83.3%、72.2%、87.1%,respectively. There were no statistical differencesobserved in accuracy rating between ultrasonography and CT(2were0.368,0.444,0.643,0.461, respectively, all P>0.05)Conclusions Ultrasonography can provide adequate information with thelocation, size and infiltration of nasal and paranasal sinus carcinoma. It is a complementary method for endoscopic, CT and MR imaging assessment ofsinonasal malignancies.
