ObjectiveAnnexinⅡis a calcium-dependent phosphnolipid-binding protein that plays an important role in many cellular functions. Many research have shown that annexin Ⅱ is involved in many human cancers and show positive expression.The aim of this study is to examine the expression of annexin Ⅱ in lung cancer tissues, and analyze the correlations between annexin Ⅱ and clinicopathological parameters.Oberve the expression of annexin Ⅱ in lung cancer tissues, explore the significance of annexin Ⅱ as a tumor marker for clinical diagnosis of lung cancer.MethodsTo collect54examples of lung tissue in first hospital of lanzhou university, department of pathology, which have complete date,clear diagnosis between March2009to April2011.18cases of normal lung tissue. In54cases of lung cancer tissue specimens,including six cases of small cell lung cancer, non-small cell lung cancer48cases respectively. Non-small cell lung cancer,31males and17females, aged29to75and with median age of56years. Of which21cases of squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma,27cases; lymph node metastasis in21cases, another without lymph node metastasis. Annexin Ⅱ expression was examined in72lung cancer and normal specimens using immunohistochemistry (SP method). Analysis expression of annexin Ⅱ in lung cancer tissues and relationship between expression of annexin and clinical pathology.ResultsAmong48lung cancer specimens, samples showed positive expression of annexin Ⅱ (62.5%) which is higher than the expression in normal tissues. It showed membranous staining and cytoplasmic expression of annexin Ⅱ in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) in which mainly showed cytoplasmic expression. Annexin Ⅱ showed negative expression in small cell lung cancer(SCLC). Annexin Ⅱ expression in NSCLC was related with lymphoid node metastasis (P=0.003) and pathological staging(P=0.004).wasn’t relationship with sex, degree of differentiation, pathological type.Conclusionsannexin Ⅱ showed negative expression in small cell lung cancer(SCLC) and positive expression in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) in which is higher than the expression in normal tissues.(P=0.001). Annexin Ⅱ expression in NSCLC was related with lymphoid node metastasis (P=0.003) and pathological staging, which shows annexin Ⅱ affects the invasion and metastasis of lung cancer. These findings contribute to mechanism of invasion and metastasis of lung cancer in future, also provide evidence of annexin Ⅱ as a new lung tumor markers. Meanwhile difference of annexin Ⅱ expression in small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer, may be a kind of method to differential diagnosis small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer.
