Objective:Statistic and measure the data of the lumbar facet joint hypertrophy ofthe different degree of lumbar facet joint degeneration to explore therelationship and clinical significance between the lumbar facet jointhypertrophy and the degree of lumbar facet joint degeneration, whilediscussing the application of three-dimensional multi-slice spiral CT in thefacet joint degeneration grading. Methods:The image data of40patients with back pain and back pain withnumbness has been collected in our hospital from January2011to August2012.Determine the degree of Lumbar facet joint degeneration by theWeishaupt system. Observe total facet joints from L1/2to L5/S1of themost clearly displayed picture of facet joints, each axial diameter calldedline A, sagittal diameter called line B and coronal diameter called line C.Measure each line three times for average data. Mann-Whitney analysiswas used to compare the two groups; three groups or four useKruskal-Wallis analysis, P <0.05was considered statistically significant..Results:Use Kruskal-Wallis test to analysis the relationship between theaverage value of three groups of line A, B, C and the degree of lumbarfacet joint degeneration. As a result, there is no significant difference ingrade0to Ⅰ,and grade Ⅱ to Ⅲ, Others have statistically significant (P<0.05). Therefore, with lumbar facet joint degeneration graduallyincreased, the degree of hypertrophy of the facet joints gradually increased.Among different age groups, the average value of three groups of line A, B,C have statistically significant (P<0.05). By inference, with age, thedegree of lumbar facet joint hypertrophy gradually increased. Differentsexes have no significant difference (P>0.05), so that the study couldexclude the gender. Conclusion:The lumbar facet joint hypertrophy should be included in thedetermination of the degree of lumbar facet joint degeneration. Age caninfluence the degree of the lumbar facet joint hypertrophy. Different sexeshave no significant difference.
