Objective:Liver failure is a clinical syndrome which characterized by necrosis of livercells. It has high mortality. AFP is a good indicator of whether the regenerationof liver cells, combined with MELD score can effectively improve the predictivevalue of liver failure. Methods:Retrospective analysis was applied in studying AFP and MELD scores of105patients with liver failure hospitalized between2009and2013in the firsthospital of Jilin university. Patients are divided into two groups, improved groupand death group, analysis the prognostic assessment of AFP and MELD scores inpatients with liver failure. Results:â‘ Mortality increases with AFP levels reducing.â‘¡MELD score hassignificance in prognosis of liver failure patients, AFP has significance inprognosis of acute liver failureâ‘¢AFP and MELD scores both have theprognostic assessment in liver failure patients. Combining with MELD score canimprove the sensitivity and specificity.â‘£When AFP<83.96ng/ml and MELD>29.5, the mortality of liver failure patients is high. Conclusions:The mortality of liver failure patients increases with the AFP reducing;MELD score has significance in prognosis of liver failure patients, AFP hassignificance in prognosis of acute liver failure; AFP and MELD score both havethe prognostic assessment for liver failure patients; Combining with MELD score, the sensitivity and specificity of AFP can be improved.
