Objective To study the effects of foot moxibustion on recovery of postoperative hypothermia following general anesthesia in gynecological patients. Methods Randomized controlled trial was designed in this study.90gynecological patients who met the inclusive criteria with postoperative hypothermia following general anesthesia were randomly divided into control group (n=45) and experimental group (n=45).Patients in control group received conventional thermal treatment. The experimental group received foot moxibustion in addition to conventional thermal. Any changes in body temperature, shivering, the disappearance time of the cold feeling, the recovery time of foot dorsum skin temperature were observed and recorded. Results (1) Compared with the control group, about30minutes (37.04%) reduction was observed on the needed recovery time of body temperature, which is significantly shortened (P<0.05).(2) less time is needed for shivering remission and the disappearance of the cold feeling in experimental group as compared with the control group(P<0.05).(3) Time needed for the recovery of foot dorsum skin temperature (P<0.05) shrinked10minutes in average (35.26%) in experimental group shranked as compared with the control group. The time for disappearance of foot cold feeling in patients received foot moxibustion shortened about4minutes (32.42%), with significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05). Conclusion (1) Foot moxibustion can effectively promote the recovery of postoperative hypothermia in gynecological patients undergone general anesthesia.(2) Foot moxibustion can help alleviation of shivering and accelerate the disappearance of the cold feeling in gynecological patients undergone general anesthesia.
