Objective: To understand the status of rural school-age children accident injury in our province, investigate the factors affecting the occurrence of accidents, and provide a scientific basis for the development of rural school-age children accident prevention measures in our province.Methods: During April to August in2013,in the economical developed, more developed, underdeveloped areas of14city states in Hunan,select1083children aged6-14as the research object from12villages by stratified cluster sampling method, surveyed general situation and occurrence of injury by trained investigators’ interview in household, statistically analyzed with statistical description,nonparametric tests and multilevel Logistic regression model by SPSS17.0and MLwiN after collected and sorted data.Results:①56.9%of the children surveyed were left-behind children;③60.1%of the children surveyed happened accident in the past year, the first five types were injuries (28.8%), sharp instrument injury (13.6%), impact injury (12.7%), burns(11.0%)and animal bites(7.6%);③71.6%of surveyed children’s accident happened at home or school,56.7%of them were treated by themselves or untreated after the injury,63.3%of them spent no money after the injury.79%of the children’s injury can be recovered,19.9%of them would be affected the appearance,1.5%of them be led to long-term limited,0.2%of them be caused disability;④The level of economic development in different areas, the occurrence of accidental injury of rural school-age children was statistically significant differences (X2=75.752, P﹤0.001). Multi level model analysis showed that age, sex, race, body mass index, personality, whether the parents go out to work,6factors influenced the incidence of children accidental injury, especially, children that the age ranged from6to8years old, Han, character cheerful or peaceful and parents not out work were less prone to accidental injury than other children, the OR values were0.599,0.335,0.525,0.653,0.495. Boy and abnormal weight child were more prone to accidental injury, the OR values were1.616、8.680.Conclusion: More than half of children surveyed were rural left-behind children, which was a high risk group of injury; More than60%of children surveyed has happened accident injury in the past year, the common injured types were injuries, sharp instrument injury,impact injury, burns and animal bites; Most of the accidents happened in the home or school, half of the children after the injury were treated by themself or untreated, and no money to spend, more than20%of the injury would affect the children’s appearance,cause long-term limitation and disability and would impact the future life, health, education, social integration and their parent’s life; In different level of economic development areas, accident injury situation was different, age, sex, race, body mass index,character,whether the parents go out to work had effect on child accident occurrence.
