IntroductionPeripheral facial paralysis (peripheral facial paralysis) is due to non-specific inflammation of the facial nerve to eye disease side fission large amount of grain lost, nasolabial shallow mouth askew and other facial muscle paralysis as the main manifestation of the disease, is a traditional Chinese medicine " stroke "category, also known as" mouth secluded "," eye and mouthoblique."Peripheral facial paralysis is a common neurological disease, often affect patient quality of life and appearance, and give patients physical and mental distress. It can occur at any age, no significant seasonal, frequently occurring rapidly. Modern medicine said, the cause of facial paralysis has not been fully elucidated. Western medicine treatment of multiple advocate the use of corticosteroids and local massage, FM diathermy, infrared radiation, etc., although there are some short-term effect, but it is a palliative treatment method, and the long-term effects are not sure, make some patients recurrent disease, hard to be cured. Acupuncture and Chinese medicine treatment places dominated in recent years, acupuncture treatment on the disease has shown a clear advantage. Domestic acupuncture physicians who treat the disease are discussed in various acupuncture, including cupping, acupuncture and acupuncture combined with other methods, has presented according to different stages of the disease and the use of different academic perspectives acupuncture manipulation therapy guide clinical practice in order to improve the outcome. My mentor Professor Chen Feng in long-term clinical practice, summed up the EX-HN5through ST4based treatment of peripheral facial paralysis through needling effects, especially for patients with more severe disease, with regular acupuncture and drug therapy compared with less side effects, a significant effect, etc., but this experience has not been published. This paper intends to use a randomized controlled design point for this group treatment of peripheral facial paralysis clinical study to evaluate the clinical efficacy of an objective and clear features and advantages of the treatment, clinical application of this method to provide reliable evidence based medicine.PurposeObjective evaluation of EX-HN5through ST4based treatment of peripheral facial paralysis term clinical efficacy and safety, and on a clear set of features and advantages of this point, the clinical application of this method to provide reliable evidence-based science evidence.Research Methods Met the inclusion criteria of66cases of peripheral facial paralysis patients randomized single-blind controlled trial were randomly divided into experimental (group A)33cases and the control group (group B)33cases. Experimental group received acupuncture experienced group therapy, EX-HN5through ST4, with the card with points; control group using conventional acupuncture, take BL2, GB14, ST2, SI18, ST6, ST4. Experimental group and the control group were daily acupuncture1, each needle30min; every Monday to Friday for5consecutive days, the rest two days. Two weeks as a course of treatment of two courses. Screening patients enrolled after1day before treatment, after treatment, two weeks, four weeks were two time points, using the House-Brackman (H-B) facial nerve function and facial grading system evaluation Disability Index (FDI) efficacy scale, the differences observed between the two groups of varying efficacy, as well as before and after each treatment group itself symptom score changes to the data before and after the SPSS19.0statistical treatment, and record the patient’s onset time, safety, adverse events occurs so as to determine the safety of the treatment.ResultsBy rank sum test to compare two groups of patients before treatment H-B facial nerve function classification, the difference was not significant (P>0.05); comparing two groups of patients after treatment H-B facial nerve function classification, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); comparing two groups of patients in the face of disability index (FDI) before treatment, the difference was not significant (P>005.); comparing two groups of patients in the face of disability index (FDI) after treatment, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). A set of test results showed that the degree of improvement in the functional activity of the facial muscles was significantly better than the control group B. After treatment, there are relatively efficient, P>0.05, there were no statistically significant, indicating that the two treatments can improve symptoms of peripheral facial paralysis; comparison markedly effective rate after treatment, P<0.05, statistical comparison significance, indicating that the test a group of peripheral facial paralysis improvement in symptoms than the control group B.Conclusions1, the clinical efficacy of two methods of acupuncture in the treatment of peripheral facial paralysis have a higher regard, but the EX-HN5through ST4based treatment of peripheral facial paralysis in the cure rate and significantly more efficient than conventional acupuncture group.2, the EX-HN5through ST4can significantly improve the experience of the group of peripheral facial paralysis of facial nerve function H-B grade and above moderate degree of clinical symptoms, can effectively improve the quality of life in patients with facial paralysis.3, EX-HN5through ST4treatment of peripheral facial paralysis with good security.
