Application Of Body Sensor Network In Gait Analysis

Body motion is a complex process and the study of body motion has afar-reaching influence on many research fields. Gait analysis is an important part ofhumman body motion study and can offer much information for the assessment ofpeople’s motor function. Gait analysis system is a new product with high technologyand has received more and more attention. It can offer an overall analysisinformation and its outcome to clinicians for better diagnosis and to patients forbetter understanding of their illness.We propose and design a kind of circuit with lower cost and lower powerconsumption sensor and MCU. We also develop wireless data collecting nodes andwireless data recption board for real-time data acquisition. With relevant gaitanalysis algorithm, we use LabVIEW to process these collected data and get manyimportant gait parameters like strides, hip joint and knee joint angulars. We also testour gait analysis system through system tests and come to the conclusion that thesystem is stable and able to satisfy the demand of clinical experiments. In the end,we choose the Medical Rehabilitation Center, Second Hospital of Jiaxing to doclinical experiments and conclude that our gait analysis system is able to satisfy theneed of clinical gait analysis.
