Objective To:To explore the causes and prevention of children’s postoperative bleedingafter tonsillectomies and adenoidectomies with low-temperature plasmascalpel.Methods:Form November2010to February2013, a retrospective analysis of188cases done tonsillectomies or/and adenoidectomies with low-temperatureplasma scalpel. The age was between19months to12years old, and theaverage age was5.3±3.1years old.Among the188cases,60cases weretonsillectomy-only,69case were tonsillectomy-and-adenoidectomy while59cases were adenoidectomy-only.Results:There were4postoperative bleeding cases,all of cases were aftertonsillectomies,3cases started bleeding from7to10days after the surgery and1case within24hours after the surgery.The adenoidectomy postoperativebleeding did not occur.ConclusionThe condition of the children and the skill level of surgeon are the importantreasons to cause postoperative bleeding. The keys to reduce postoperativebleeding are as follow: to consult the patients for preoperative and postoperative, adequate hemostasis during the surgery and good surgicaltechniques....
