| Objective: To analyze the clinical characteristics andsignificance of simple Benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) andBPH complicated by chronic prostatitis(CP).Method: FromOctober2011to June2013in our hospital urology,236patientswho underwent transurethral resection of the prostate wereenrolled in this study.they were assigned to a BPH group (n=35)and a BPH+CP group(n=201) according to the pathologicaldiagnosis. Using SPSS17.0software for statistical analysis tocompare the two groups in age, volume of prostate, maximumurinary flow rate(Qmax), residual urine volume, InternationalProstate Symptom Score(IPSS)(preoperative and after threemonths), Quality Of Life score(QOL),acute urinary retention(AUR),Prostate specific antigen(PSA), Prostate specificantigen density(PSAD) whether there are differences on theindicators. Result:The patients in the BPH+CP group combinedthe volume of prostate, residual urine volume, IPSS, QOL andthe risk of AUR was significantly higher than the BPH group,Qmaxwas lower than the BPH group, the difference wasstatistically significant.in the age, PSA and PSAD, they wereno statistically significant.3months after surgery both groups compared with preoperative IPSS score decreased significantly, and the score of BPH+CP group is higher than the BPH group, the difference are statistically significant. Conclusion: The CP may be an important factor in the clinical progression of BPH and one of the important reasons leadto lower urinary tract symptoms in patients with BPH. |
