Objective:To review and summarize the pathogenesis and efficacy of peripheral neuropathy.Furthermore, This study was undertaken to investigate the effect of cerebrolysin onGuillain-Barre syndrome(GBS).Methods:A total of111patients with GBS were enrolled in the final analysis. All thepatients were chose according to Asbury1990. The patients were divided into6groups,which are common drugs treatment groups (a1and a2group),glucocorticoidstreatment group(b1and b2group), gammaglobulin treatment group (c1and c2group),of which1on behalf of the Blank-controlled group (control group) and2onbehalf of Cerebrolysin treatment group(experimental group). The patients of commondrugs treatment groups were just given regular neurotrophic drugs, while the patientsof glucocorticoids treatment group and gammaglobulin treatment group were givenglucocorticoids or gammaglobulin on the basis of regular neurotrophic drugsapplication. Within each treatment group, experimental group patients wereintravenous250ml physiological saline containing20ml Cerebrolysin, once a day,for10days,while control group not given Cerebrolysin. All patient’s muscle Musclestrength score and TCSS score were evaluated on the10th day of treatment and the30th day after the treatment. On the30th day after the treatment, every patient reviewthe electromyography, keeping a record of motor nerve conduction velocity(MCV)and amplitude(Amp). The results were statistically analyzed. Results:On the10th day of treatment, the change of muscle strength score and TCSS score was not significant(P>0.05).In terms of muscle strength score, there aresignificantly statistical differences between experimental group and control group onthe30th day after the treatmen(tP<0.05), the data difference of the30th day after thetreatment and the day of prior-treatment appeared the same result. On the30th dayafter the treatment, there are obvious improvement in terms of every group,s TCSSscore. But the TCSS score of experimental group is significantly lower than controlgroup(P<0.05). Neural electrophysiological show that the MCV and Amp in eachtreatment group were improved. But the MCV and Amp of the experimental groupChanged more obviously, the difference are Significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:Cerebrolysin contribute to repair the damaged peripheral nerves. The clinicalsymptoms, physical sign, MCV and Amp can be improve in varying degrees with theuse of Cerebrolysin.
