ObjectiveTo analysis the change of breast volume and fibroglandular tissue volume fromdifferent age women, and the first step to define threshold range in the progress ofvolume measurement.MethodsTotally508MRI datas since February to November2013,245Outpatients and263operation patients among them, all patients are women, aged11to87years old,average43.63+10.94. Patients take prone position, breasts droop naturally and do thebreast MRI scanning, scanning range from collarbone down to the edge of rib, scanning sequences include coronal T1WI, sagittal T2WI with fat-suppression,diffusion-weighted imaging and dynamic enhanced scan. Scan parameters: T1weighted phase, a single transection,1mm thick, scan images are transfered to GEgraphic workstation by digital interface, output and save the images by the form ofDICOM3.0which is the medical digital image and communication standard format.Copy the images saved by DICOM3.0into an analysis computer, open the Mimics15.0, select Import Images, then we can import all the MRI Images from one personinto software DICOM3.0. Take range selection and3-D reconstruction inMimics15.0platform, first set up3-D model’s generated range which is the cube areaaround the breast, adjust image contrast, make the region boundary of differentbrightness organization more clear, and then select the breast tissue by settingappropriate gray-threshold, eventually generate3-D model of bilateral breast throughthree-dimensional calculation. In the same way, select the gland tissue by setting appropriate gray-threshold, eventually generate3-D model of gland tissue. Mimicsprovides the function of measuring the volume of3-D models directly, we can look atthe property of the3-D models of the breast and gland tissue, then it can display theexact figures of the breast and gland tissue volume.Results1, As the growth of the age, the threshold values of breast and fibroglandular riseat first and go down latter.2, Over half of all patients with breast census and see a doctor are40-49patients,far away far more than other age groups, followed by30-39and50-59patients. It isa high incidence of breast cancer women ages40-49years old, women at this ageconcern for their own breast health are far higher than other age groups.3, As we age, the breast tissue volume increase, and gland tissue volume reachesits peak in the20-29years old, then a downward trend. This shows that with theincrease of age, breast volume increase is caused by the adipose tissue which is in thebreast increase.4, With age increasing,%FGV (%FGV: absolute fibroglandular volume) reachits peak at the age of20-29, then a downward trend, and from age20-29to30-39and40-49to50-59decline greatly.5, Throughout all ages, regardless of the comparison of breast volume, or thecomparison of fibroglandular tissue volume, more than90%of the people the volumeof the right side of the breast is greater than the left. And people aged between30-39、40-49、50-59years old,the difference was statistically significant.Conclusions1, Through the breast volume measurement of508patients with mammarygland disease, we will have a basic scope to the adjustment of the threshold, and ourprimary job is to determine the operation method and threshold values.2, We determine the breast area under MRI by the definition of the anatomy ofthe breast boundary.3, Overall patients, we found that more than90%of the people the volume of the right side of the breast is greater than the left by the measured of MRI. And peopleaged between30-39、40-49、50-59years old,the difference was statisticallysignificant.4, Through508cases of breast volume measurement and the contrast betweenthe age, we get a conclusion: with the increase of age and the accumulation of fat, thewhole volume of the breast is increasing, but the glands layer in narrowing.
