Study and Clinical Application of 3-D Reconstruction Technique in Determinating Breast Volume1. Objective: The purpose of this study was to set up a kind of breast volume measurement, to observe the affect degree of the artificial influencing factors, to discuss its application in the breast plastic surgery, which is the use of 3-D reconstruction technique in determinating breast volume.2. Methods: The CT data was used to reconstruct a digital prototype of the breast implant and the chest. The CT data was input then. The range of the breast implant and the chest were selected by the different organize density. 4 methods of 3-D reconstruction were set up, for instance chest materialization , chest wall materialization, breast materialization, and breast implant materialization. The 3-D models were made firstly, secondly be cut reasonable, and their volumes were measured by the software lastly. These methods were put up by the repeatable test when the reference frame and the ranges were limited. Measurements were performed on 50 women. And the analysis of the artificial influencing factors was performed on 10 women whose breast were asymmetric. The affect degree of the artificial influencing factors were observed by moving the coordinates axis and circumvolving the chest around the coordinates axis and changing the select confine. Suitable implants were also selected for the 50 patients by the results of the measurements.3. Results: The 3-D models of the chest, the chest wall, the breast and the breast implant can be get , and the volume also can be measured by the CT data and the 3-D reconstruction software. The repeatable test showed that the error was less than 4.08ml. The average margin that the volume margin presently subtract the volume margin originally were 10.339ml and 7.73ml when the new reference frame moved±4mm through the axis X. The average margin were 8.654ml and 7.971ml when the new reference frame circumvolved±2 degree. The average margin were 6.764ml and 4.267ml when the select confine was changed±4mm. 50 Patients were all satisfied, as the shapes of postoperative breasts were ideality and almost symmetry after the operation.4. Conclusion: This technique is a non-contact measurement for breast. The affect degree of the artificial influencing factors was very little. And Compared with different methods, the 3-D reconstruction technique is simpler, more accurate and more repeatable. It offers a new way to solve the difficult problem and an exactitude measurement for clinic task.
