[Objective] To explore the feasibility and experience of using LifePort forthe donations after cardiac death (DCD) donor renal transplantation[Methods] Clinical data of patients who underwent renal transplantationat the Department of Urology Surgery,1st Hospital of the Jilin University,Changchun, China, from August2012to June2013. We compared thetransplant outcomes in13cases receiving DCD kidneys preserved by LifePortand by static cold storage preservation by conducting a meta-analysis. Weobserve the early effect of renal transplantation and summarizes the experienceof using LifePort for the donations after cardiac death (DCD) donor renaltransplantation.[Result] All26cases of renal transplantation from DCD were wellperformed in our department.4cases (15.3%,4/26) of renal transplantationshowed DGF,1case (7.6%,1/13) in LifePort group,3cases (23.0%,3/13) instatic cold storage preservation group, the rate of DGF in LifePort group wassignificant lower than static cold storage preservation group (P<0.05). Theserum Screatinine (Scr) of patients with DGF were recovered well between20~45days after transplantation after anti DGF treatment. The mean value ofScr of the patients without DGF in two groups showed no statistically significant (93.61±25.05umol/L VS.106.79±34.27umol/L, P>0.05). Therecover time of renal function in LifePort group was significant shorter thanstatic cold storage preservation group (5.39±0.97days VS.15.38±3.9days,P<0.05).2cases (7.6%,2/26) showed acute rejection (AR) during perioperativeperiod,1case (7.6%,1/13) of AR occurred in Life Port group,1case (7.6%,1/13) of AR occurred in static cold storage preservation group, there was nostatistically significant between the two groups (P>0.05).[Conclusion] Life Port kidney transporter machines play a important rolein preservation and perfusion of kidney from DCD donor renal transplantation,it can significantly reduce the incidence of DGF, promote the early functions ofrenal function recovery.
