Objective:To know the current stuation of perioperative medication on catara surgery in Certain EyeHospital Group,within this firm, to analyse the possible reasons affecting cataract surgeons’choice on medication, and to give advice for improvement.Methods:A cross-sectional survey has been carried out to all cataract surgeons of all43hospitals of certain eye hospital group around the nation, and colocted operation records of all cataract patients through the database of the group to observe perioperative medication. Dataset was developed by the EPIDATA3.02, and the SPSS13.0package was performed to process and analyze data; frequencies were used to describe data distribution, and χ2test or fisher exact test were used for univariate analysis, logistic regression models were performed to estimate the determinants of the medicicatiaons in ophthalmology.Results:In all of the cataract surgeries in this group in2011,97.2%cases had been applied with topical antibiotics before surgery, and61.3%of them were levofloxacin. All cases had gone through conjunctival disinfection,42.0%were using povidone iodine with the concentration lower than50g/L(5%), mostly(41%cases) between3g/L-5g/L Intracameral antibiotics were adopted in36.1%cases, while52.9%of them were cefuroxime. All cases underwent topical antibiotics postoperatively,77.8%of them were tobramycin.Conclusions:Surgeons’age, education background, professional experience and working lifetime were the effective factors of the choice of preventative medication on preoperative, intraoperative of the cataract surgery; making rule for preventative medication of cataract and enhancing management and standard for optician in the group can decrease the incidence of complication of the cataract surgery.
