Objectives:To investigate the fatigue and sleep quality of the third trimester pregnantwomen, analyze the influential factors related to the fatigue and sleep with the thirdtrimester pregnant women; to explore the sleep quality and fatigue effectiveness ofself-messaging on the third trimester pregnant women.Methods:This study was a Quasi-experimental survey. From May2012to October2012,the third trimester pregnant women come from the first affiliated hospital ofNanChang University. The84pregnant women were sampled conveniently assignedinto two groups: the contrast group and the experimental group. The contrast groupreceived client education on sleeping, foods, nutrition and other knowledge of thethird stage pregnancy. The experimental group received self-massage and theeducation on the contrast group. All the experiments lasted4weeks, and theexperimental data is collected by three instruments including Pittsburgh Quality Index(PSQI) and Fatigue Assessment Instrument (FAI). The database was established usingSPSS17.0. The statistical methods included: T test, X2test, Anova test, multiple linearstepwise regression analysis. The significance was assumed at P<0.05.Results:1. Baseline results shows that the PSQI score were8.85±2.09. Sleep disturbanceof the PSQI were the highest score at1.89±0.38and sleep drug of the PSQI were thelowest score at0.04±0.18. The total score of FAI scale were4.80±0.63, the severityfatigue score were4.78±1.13in mild fatigue level.2. The multiple linear stepwise regression analysis to influential factors of sleepquality and fatigue as following. The basic influential factors of the third trimesterpregnant women’ sleep qualities are educational level, the BMI in the pregnant andquantities of get up in the night to urinate. The fatigue influential factors related to thesleep quality, sleep duration, sleep disorder. 3. In experimental group, there is obvious difference between pre and postintervention in the total score of sleep quality (PSQI),the sleep latency, sleep periodand the subjective sleep quality (P<0.05), there is no obvious difference between preand post insertion in the total score of sleep disturbance, sleep efficiency and use ofhypnotic agents (P>0.05); The result of FAI and the three subscales of FAI hassignificant effect (P<0.05), the score of the tired to sleep and rest has no significanteffect between pre and post intervention (P>0.05). In control group, there is obviousdifference between pre and post intervention in the total score of sleep quality (PSQI),the sleep latency, daily dysfunction (P<0.05), there is no obvious difference betweenpre and post insertion in the total score of the sleep period, sleep disturbance, sleepefficiency and use of hypnotic agents (P>0.05); the score of fatigue severity hassignificant effect (P<0.05), the other score of the fatigue has no significant effect (P>0.05).4. After completing an intervention, the scores of PSQI and the four subscales ofsleep quality, the sleep latency, sleep period, the subjective sleep quality and dailydysfunction of experimental group were lower than those of the contrast group, andthere is statistical differences in the two groups (P<0.05); The total scores of FAI andthe score of subscales in experimental group were lower than those in contrast groupthere is statistical significant (P<0.05).Conclusion:For the third trimester pregnant women, the basic influential factors of the sleepquality include education level, the BMI of the pregnant and the quantities of get upin the night to urinate; The factors of the PSQI, the sleep period, and sleepdisturbance were correlated with the fatigue of the third trimester pregnant women.Self-massaging can significantly improve the sleep quality and fatigue of the thirdtime trimester pregnant women.
