bjective:Adaptive optics technique, which can automatically adapt to the changes in the external conditions and keep in a good working condition by the real-time measurement-control-correction of the optical wavefront aberration. The clinical trial was aim to explore whether AO was better than the traditional vision training in awakening and developing the visual nervous system and improving the visual quality of amblyopia with amblyopia perception training, when the AO technique could correct the higher-order aberrations of amblyopic eyes and make sure the retina can gain high definition visual stimulation. Methods:The study included60patients in the opthamology clinic of the Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital who had transparant refractive medium, refractive errors, anisometropia with centric fixation, aged6-30years old. The patients were equally divided into two groups according to age-matched. The adaptive optics therapeutic apparatus was used for treatment group(AO group) and BS-5Y for control group(BS-5Y group). Contrast sensitivity and visual acuity were measured after10days’ continuous treatment. Results:①Compare the visual acuity between the AO group and BS-5Y group before and after treatment. The effective rate of adaptive group was83.33%, while BS-5Y group was26.67%.The data was analyzed by layer chi-square test with x2=5.663, P<0.05, the difference between two groups was statistically significant.(2) The peak of contrast sensitivity curve after treatment in AO group increased from2.31dB to2.83dB and increased by22.75%on average. The peak of contrast sensitivity curve after treatment in BS-5Y group increased from2.24dB to2.41dB and increased by7.76%on average. The data of increased range of contrast sensitivity between two groups was analyzed by covariance analysis with F=9.122, P<0.05, the difference was statistically significant.③The average contrast sensitivity curve peak improved from2.26dB to2.75dB and increased by22.16%in patients over the age of12after treatment in AO group. The data was analyzed by covariance analysis with F=23.846P<0.001, the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion The adaptive optics therapeutic apparatus can treat amblyopia more effective than conventional ones in increasing visual acuity and contrast sensitivity, and could be effective for the patients who have missed the critical treatment period.
