Objective This article is to investigate the the relationship betweenapoptosis and the expression of API5in the penis cavernosal tissues ofdiabetes mellitus (DM) rats.Method: Streptozotocin(STZ)-induced diabeticmellitus rat model.Method DMED rats are screened by APO erectile dysfunctionexperiment,and tested intracavernous pressure(ICP).The penis cavernosaltissues of diabetes mellitus (DM) rats is tested apoptosis by terminaldeoxynucleotidyl transferase mediated d2UTP nick end labeling(TUNEL),and tested the expression of API5though Immunohistochemicaland Western blot after10weeks.Results The glucose concentration was significantly higher in testgroup than control group(P<0.05).The body weight changes wassignificantly lower in test group than control group (P<0.05).The ICP andICP/MAP were significantly lower in test group than control group(P<0.05).The apoptosis of penis cavernosal tissues of diabetes mellitus(DM) rats were significantly higher in test group than controlgroup(P<0.05).The expression of API5of penis cavernosal tissues ofdiabetes mellitus (DM) rats were significantly lower in test group than control group.Conclusions Experiments to understand the penis cavernosal tissuesof DM rats that increased rate of apoptosis,which may be one of thepathogenesis of diabetic erectile dysfunction, while API5may be involvedin the regulation of the DM rat corpus cavernosum apoptosis gene.
