Objective: Design a new Kidney-shaped n-HA/PA66lumbar fusion cageand analyse the biomechanics of this cage in transforaminal lumbarinterbody fusion (TLIF) by using the method of finite element analysis.Methods:1.Design different models of n-HA/PA66lumbar fusion cageaccording to biomechanics of lumbar and different people.2.Take a CTscan of a healthy30-years-old male people, use Simpleware and Ansys todo finite element analysis with the orginal Dicom data from CT scan.3.Verify the validity of the FEM.4. Compare the biomechanical differencebetween new Kidney-shaped cage and usual cage by simulating the TLIFusing finite element analysisResult:1.Design a new Kidney-shaped n-HA/PA66lumbar fusion cageand the biomechanics is valid.2.Develop a FEM of healthy L3-L5andverify the validity of the model, make a proof of the value in later clinicalresearch.3.Build the FEM of original n-HA/PA66cage and this brand newcage to simulate a TLIF surgery, and get the displacement chart andVon-Mises chart results of six kinds of operation mode.4.The displacementof L4-L5after TLIF surgery is less than original FEM according to thedisplacement chart, but the pedicle screw system shows no difference in displacement chart between these two kinds of cages. And the Von-Miseschart shows lager stress place of normal cage than this brand new cage.Conclusion:1.This newly designed Kidney-shaped n-HA/PA66lumbarfusion cage has the feature of easily implant and jagged faces to preventspondylolisthesis.2.Build a FEM of healthy L3-L5and verify the validityof the model, prove the value of later clinical research.3.The stability ofthe model implanted with cage and pedicle screw system is better than theone without them.4.The stress place in new cage is lower than normal cage, thus the stability is better and the subsidence is lower.5.This new cagemight be promising in later clinical application as the biomechanicsresearch.
