Objective:To explore the clinical effects of Ahmed Glaucoma Valveimplant placement in the treatment of refractory glaucoma. Methods:A retrospective reveiw was conducted to document38eyesform35patients with refractory glaucoma who undergone Ahmedglaucoma vavle implantation. The follow-up ranged form2to24months(mean8.11±5.60months). Observing the changes of intraocularpressure, the vision, and analysising of preoperative intraocular pressure andpostoperative intraocular pressure by paired t test. Results:The cumulative probabilities of success was81.58%.While,the absolute success rate was71.05%and the conditional successrate was10.53%after AGV implantation IOP was reduced form apreoperative mean of (41.09±14.11)mmHg to a postoperative mean of(16.51±4.91)mmHg(t=9.58,P<0.01).The common complications includedocular hypotony(7eyes), hyphema(6eyes),shallow anterior chamber(3eyes), Anterior chamber inflammation(4eyes) and so on.Conclusions:Ahmed Glaucoma Valve is an effective way of curing refractory glaucoma, which has a comparatively high value.
