Foreign Nursing major was founded in the late1980’s and recognized by the StateMinistry of Education in2012. At present, there are120schools set up Foreign Nursing major,in which52917students major. Foreign Nursing started late, but developed rapidly. Therefore,the research on foreign nursing received widespread attention in the nursing education. In thisstudy, the principle is “service for purpose, employment as orientation, ability as standard,occupational ability as point”. This study is to put forward the overall scheme of ForeignNursing curriculum system reform by surveying the present situation of Foreign Nursing andthe graduate employment status in foreign countries and comparing with foreign courseoffering.The analysis from survey of the present situation of Foreign Nursing indicates that themain problems in current foreign-related nursing curriculum system are following: the courseoffering isn’t proper.(such as education concept is backward; the curriculum theory is basedon biomedical model, and the teaching mode is in the center of clinical medicine; trainingobject and career orientation are not clear; the professional characteristic is not to beprominent,; the traditional nursing teaching is to strengthen English), which is resulting in thedisjoint phenomenon between language training and professional training, part of thegraduates is not competent for the international nursing posts; education is disarticulated withthe domestic and foreign occupation qualification examination and clinical work actualrequirements; bilingual teaching faculties has serious problems.The analysis from survey of employment survey abroad of foreign-related nursinggraduates indicates that the main factors that affect graduates employment abroad are asfollows: language is a major obstacle to the output; output direction is single, area is narrow;course offering is in the core of treatment and nursing care, which lead to that the knowledgestructure of nursing staff is single, the lack of holistic nursing consciousness. It can’t conformto the nursing requirements in the international nursing markete, furthermore affect theenthusiasm of foreign employers to recruit nurses.The result from the comparative analysis of the foreign course offering between Chineseand foreign countries shows that domestic nursing education has not yet been completely get rid of the influence of the biomedical model, nursing education is lack of clear concept, targetlocation is not clear, which lead to that the curriculum is unreasonable, and does not conformto the requirements of the modern medical science, the development of nursing and the talentsmarket. In the professional training objectives emphasize mastery of clinical medicalknowledge, the curriculum in many medical schools are in the basic of medical and nursingprofessional curriculum model, not the nursing specialty; in knowledge structure, thehumanities curriculum proportion is not enough.Based on the research of the analysis in the above three aspects, this study has done acomprehensive reform of foreign-related nursing curriculum system. Firstly, the targetlocation should follow the principle that through the experience in the domestic medical andhealth institutions or after obtaining the international qualification certificate, the graduatescan carry out the corresponding work and become a secondary nursing talent in the foreigncountry ". Secondly, according to the training objectives, the training requirements are dividedinto three aspects: knowledge structure, ability structure and quality structure, and to refine.Thirdly, In the curriculum structure, we consider clinical nursing standard as the basis, theUnited States CGFNS exam as the breakthrough point, put modular, parallel curriculumstructure to use. At the end, the curriculum course adopt the life cycle curriculum as the mainline, integrate some courses, add some courses such as A Survey of English Speakingcountries, World History" and other foreign characteristic curriculum. At the same time, thereform of traditional English Curriculum in secondary vocational schools is necessary,English course is divided into two parts of Public English and Nursing English, publicEnglish includes four courses of intensive reading, extensive reading, listening and. NursingEnglish is a bridge courses between public English and clinical nursing, which run throughthe whole teaching process, and emphasis on Bilingual teaching.
