The Comparison Of ASASI And CaPI In The Survey Of Sensitive Questions Among Rural Residents

Objective:To compare the feasibility of the ACASI and CAPI in surveying Chinese rural residents sensitive questions.Methods:One township was randomly selected from all33ones of Liuyang, and then three villages were randomly selected from this township, households were randomly selected from three villages that were to carry out health survey sample box with system sampling later. All the qualified rural residents aged eighteen and over were taken as theoretical sample. Suicide、Sexual Experience、Sexual Orientation、 Dating Violence in the CIDI were applied as survey content. ACASI technology and CAPI technology were used.Results:1. Five hundred and four rural residents accepted ACASI technology to complete response, its acceptability was73.90%(504/682);498rural residents accepted CAPI technology to complete response, its acceptability was94.68%(498/526),the acceptability of CAPI was better than acceptability of ACASI(P=0.000).Age and degree of education influence the acceptability of ACASI.2. Reliability of the ACASI:(1)test-retest reliability:we use the ACASI to measure suicide、sexual experience、sexual orientation，dating violence, its test-retest reliability was0.870;(2)test-retest terms coincidence rates:coincidence rates of all terms was between33.33%and100%, term12had the lowest coincidence rate;(3)internal consistent coefficient:we use the ACASI to measure suicide, sexual experience, sexual orientation, dating violence, Cronbach’s a coefficient of the ACASI was0.930.3. Reporting rates:we control the influential factors of reporting rates.(1)sexual orientation:the reporting rate of ACASI was 81.35%, the reporting rate of CAPI was70.08%,ACASI improved the the reporting rate of sexual orientation(AOR=1.54;95%CI:1.12,2.12).(2)age of the first sexual behavior:the reporting rate of ACASI was46.43%,the reporting rate of CAPI was65.86%,CAPI improved the reporting rates (AOR=0.42,95%CI:0.32,0.55).(3)dating age:the reporting rates of CAPI were better than the ACASI.4. Positive reporting rates:we control the influential factors of reporting rates.(1) suicidal ideation:the reporting rate of ACASI was6.9%, the reporting rate of CAPI was5.2%,ACASI improved the the reporting rate of suicidal ideation(AOR=1.24;95%CI:0.73,2.11).(2)sexual experience:the reporting rates of CAPI were better than the ACASI.(3) dating violence:the reporting rate of ACASI was14.48%, the reporting rate of CAPI was7.03%, ACASI improved the the reporting rate of dating violence(AOR=2.063;95%CI:1.332,3.197).Conclusions:1. The acceptability of CAPI is better than the ACASI.It showed that we need to improve the acceptability of ACASI to study suicide、sexual experience、sexual orientation and dating violence in China.Age and degree of education influence the acceptability of the ACASI.The younger and higher degree of education were more likely to favor the ACASI over CAPI.2. ACASI showed good test-retest reliability and internal consistent coefficient to suicide、sexual experience、sexual orientation and dating violence, most terms had good coincidence rates.3. ACASI had higher the reporting rates to study suicide behavior and sexual orientation, while CAPI had higher the reporting rates to study dating age and the age of the first sexual behavior. ACASI had higher the positive reporting rates to study suicidal ideation and dating violence, while CAPI had higher the positive reporting rates to study sexual experience.
