ObjectiveInvestigation and analysis of942cases of congenitally missing teeth in orthodontic patients in Xiangtan area (excluding the third molar) incidence, number of missing teeth, tooth bit distribution and Occlusal relationship in patients with congenital missing teeth, raise awareness of patients with congenital missing teeth, provides the reference for the design of clinical orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning of the local district.MethodThe Orthodontic division to xiangtan stomatological hospital from January2010to December2010, between the departments of xiangtan native born942people lived in the han nationality patients were investigated, in942patients, male378cases, female564cases. By clinical examination and panoramic radiographs confirmed congenital missing teeth, through the comparison and analysis of the related literature in Xiangtan area and the prevalence rate of congenital missing teeth, missing teeth number of congenital missing teeth,tooth bit distribution and abnormal occlusion, and concludes the characteristics of (25.47%) of shallow overburden, edge to edge occlusion in7cases (6.60%), anterior crossbite in21cases (19.81%).ConclusionsCongenital absence of teeth in Xiangtan area (excluding third molars) prevalence rate was11.25%; the incidence of no difference between men and women;Individual missing teeth and a few missing teeth are common; Xiangtan region the most common orthodontic patients with missing teeth are the mandibular central incisor, mandibular lateral incisor, mandibular second molar; mandibular edentulous occurred rate is higher than the incidence of severe maxillary edentulous; When the number of congenital missing teeth2or higher, or lack of dental patients mostly symmetry tooth deficiency; Congenital missing teeth caused by all kinds of abnormal occlusion with each are not identical.
