Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a kind of multifocal male disease that usually onset at the transitional zone, and correlated with the age. Its etiological factors are various, while its pathogenesis is complex. Epidemiological and histopathological data display most tissue of BPH is combined with inflammation, and integrin alpha2beta1/CD133is prostate tissue stem cell markers, This study detects differential expression of integrin alpha2beta1/CD133between group of simple benign prostatic hyperplasia group and group of benign prostatic hyperplasia combined with inflammation and attempts to investigate the pathogenesis of BPH from a new point of view of " prostate inflammation of prostate tissue-stem cells-BPH"To detect distinctive expression of integrinα2β1/CD133between simple benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and BPH combined with prostatitis as well as their significances. All specimens were obtained from patients undergoing surgical resection of the prostate. The paraffin section of the specimens was stained with HE, and observed under light microscope to examine the inflammation pathological changes.24patients with simple BPH (Group A) and36patients with BPH combined with prostatitis (Group B) were included. Immunohistochemical analysis, Western blotting and IPP6.0image analysis software were used to examine the expression of Integrinα2β1/CD133.Immunohistochemical Mattern integration showed that expression of integrinα2β1/CD133existed significant deviation between group A and group B, P<0.05. Western blotting also demenstrated that mean relative values of OD were increased in group B compared with group B, P<0.05.1. Both groups of simple BPH and group of BPH combined with inflammatory expressed integrin alpha2beta1/CD133. Integrin alpha2beta1was positioned in stroma, CD133positioned in basal cells mainly.2. Prostatitis could up-regulate the expression of Integrinα2β1/CD133in BPH tissue combined with inflammation.3. prostate inflamm tion-Integrinα2β1/CD133-BPH" might be one of pathogenesis of BPH.
