Xiong zongli is an influential people who is not only a doctor but also engaged in cut blocks books in the early Ming Dynasty in Fujian Province. He has taken writing and cutting blocks medical books as his mission of life. Through study of Xiong and his master piece: Ming Fang Lei Zheng Yi Shu Da Quan, this paper is aiming at three points:clarifying mistakes and ambiguous information in modern researches, explicating the details and the value of this book, and confirming the influence him and his book has brought to the medical history of Japan.By collecting historical documentary in medical area and relative information in books that he has published, this paper also analyzed Xiong zongli from both historical perspective and Philological perspective; and studied his master work:Ming Fang Lei Zheng Yi Shu Da Quan from Philological perspective and clinical medicine point of view.By collecting and editing documentation, this paper identified the information about Xiong Zhongli, such as his family, birth and death year, hometown and the origin of his knowledge. Xiong zongli was born in a medical family. When he grew up he learned how to write medical books from Liu Yan, the famous publisher at that time. The paper also researched the confusion of Xiong zongli and Xiong Jun in contemporary study. The conclusion proved they are not the same person. The Ao Feng College built by Xiong zongli’s ancestors became the basis of Xiong’s signature. That is a conclusive proof of Xiong’s memoriam to his ancestors.The research of interrelated documents and books found out that there were more than40medical books published by Xiong zongli during his life tife. Most of these books were written as graphs, categories, illustration and ballad, which were in common ways and quite easy to understand.During15-16Century, Xiong zongli’s achievement influenced Japan significantly. His articles were repeatedly quoted and reprinted by Japanese scholars. There are still a number of scholars studying Xiong zongli at present times. Ming Fang Lei Zheng Yi Shu Da Quan was reproduced many times in Japan and there were even some articles appears now was the study of some medical theories in the book. To some extent. Xiong zongli and his works have greatly influenced Kampo.
