Objective: To investigate the effects of the theory that the liver belongs to yin inits nature and demonstrates yang in its function on the pathogenesis and treatment ofirregular menstruation. Methods: This thesis is a combination of literature research and clinicalobservation.1. Literature research: First, to investigate the theoretical significance ofthe theory that the liver belongs to yin in its nature and demonstrates yang in itsfunction as well as its relationship with irregular menstruation by sorting out ancientliterature; to investigate the pathogenesis and syndrome treatment law of irregularmenstruation combined with modern medical research for irregular menstruation.2.Clinical research: To design questionnaire of irregular menstruation, collect diagnosticdata of patients that are diagnosed as irregular menstruation in ZhongLu Hospital, theAffiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, such asclinical performance, mental condition and so on, and divide syndrome types as well asanalyzing the effect of the theory that the liver belongs to yin in its nature anddemonstrates yang in its function on the occurrence regularity, clinical syndrome, physical typing and emotional scale. Results: Theoretical studies: The liver belongs to yin in its nature anddemonstrates yang in its function is a summary of physiological and pathologicalcharacteristics of the liver; blood is the material basis of menstruation, qi is the power torun the blood, and menstruation is normal if qi and blood are in harmony. Liverdemonstrates dispersion and reserves blood, are closely related to irregular menstruation, and liver dysfunction will affect Chong and Ren and cause irregular menstruation.Clinical Research: In the survey of176clinical cases of irregular menstruation, mentalworkers are more than manual workers significantly.SDS scores are in40pointsormore mostly, accounted for82%, they are with depressive tendencies, indicating thatdepression and a short-term character and emotional state are important factors in theonset of menstruation. Patients with irritability, anxiety, paranoia and other biasedcharacter is a large proportion, accounting for51.7%of surveyed population; anger, anxiety, tension, stress and other emotional incentives accounted for49.5%in theincidence of the disease, exertion accounted for27.3%; patients with mental state ofdepression and irritability accounted for the largest proportion, the above indicate thatbiased character and emotional state are closely related to the disease; tirednessconsumes blood, leads to deficiency of qi and blood, and is closely related to theincidence of the disease. In syndrome differentiation typing, qi stagnation, blooddeficiency, kidney deficiency and so on are the common types of irregular menstruation.Dispersing too much leads to “liver with a surplus," and chronic illness hurts the liverYin, resulting in "the liver insufficiency" and leading to irregular menstruation. Themost common qualities of people with irregular menstruation are qiyu, yang deficiencyand yin deficiency; physical types and irregular menstrual syndrome are intrinsicallylinked. Late menstruation, irregular menstruation is more common in the clinicalinvestigation of six kinds menstruation syndrome; patients have different degrees ofpathology and varying degrees dysmenorrheal in menstruation, the quality and thequantity. Conclusion: The theory of the liver belongs to yin in its nature and demonstratesyang in its function has an important influence on the occurrence regularity of irregularmenstruation.
