Objective To compare the clinical characteristics, diagnosisand treatment between incidental renal cell carcinoma (RCC) andnon-incidental RCC.Methods Clinical data of246hospitalized patients with renalcell carcinoma in our hospital from2006to2012wereretrospectively analyzed. The246patients were divided intoincidental RCC group (n=140) and non-incidental RCC group(n=106) and were evaluated according to the gender, tumorlocation, tumor size, pathological types, clinical staging, path andrange of operation.Result Renal lesions of non-incidental RCC patients areusually firstly diagnosed by B-ultrasound. Difference betweenincidental RCC and non-incidental RCC in aspects of sex, positionof tumor and pathological type were not significant. The age ofincidental RCC patients was older, the size was smaller, theclinical stage was lower compared with those of non-incidentalRCC patients, with statistically significances (P<0.05).Conclusions Ultrasonography and CT are the main imagingexaminations to detect incidental RCC. More chances of nephronsparing surgery have been provided to incidental RCC patients, which helps to improve the post-operative quality of life andlong-term survival.
