Objective:To observe the efficacy and safety of Liraglutide and Exenatide in patients with type2diabetes mellitus (T2DM).Methods:78patients with T2DM were involved in this study and randomly divided into two groups:the Liraglutide group (1.8mg once daily, n=28) and the Exenatide group (5μg, twice daily, n=50) for16weeks, both on top of onging metformin therapy. The effects of the two glucagon like peptide-1receptor agonists on fasting blood glucose (FBG),2-hour postprandial blood glucose (2hPBG), glycosylated hemoglobin (HbAlc), body mass index (BMI) and the adverse reaction incidence were observed and compared. Results:At baseline, there were no significant differences in FBG, HbAlc, BMI, WHR, SBP, DBP, TG, TC, HDL-C, LDL-C, FFA, FINS, HOMA-IR and HOMA-IS between the two groups (P>0.05). After16-week treatment, liraglutide significantly decrease BMI, WHR, HbAlc, FBG,2hPBG(P<0.05), while HOMA-IS was increased (P<0.05).And exenatide significantly decreased BMI、HbAlc, WHR, LDL-C and HOMA -IR(P<0.05). There were no significant differences in the changes of HbAlc, BMI, SBP, DBP, TG, TC, HDL-C, FFA, HOMA-IR and HOMA-IS between the two groups(P>0.05), the effects of liraglutide on body weight, FBG,2hBG, WHR were more significant than exenatide did(P<0.05), the effect of exenatide on LDL-c was more significant than liraglutide did(P<0.01). Liraglutide has the same effect on HbAlc as Exenatide (P>0.05). There were no severe hypoglycemic events occurred in both of the two groups. Conclusion:Liraglutide and Exenatide have definite efficacy and highly safety.
