The incidence of stroke seems to increase year by year, which poses a seriousthreat to national life and healthy life quality. As the diagnosis technique and treatingmethod improved, stroke mortality has been greatly reduced. But most of the survivorsassociated with limb movement disorder, in addition, some mostly accompanied bydepression and other psychological problems due to losing the self-care ability of life.To deal with these issues above, a design of miniature portability device based onembedded system for stroke rehabilitation is proposed. This paper based on Linuxsystem and cognitive relearning therapy principle, developed an interdisciplinarysystem of rehabilitation treatment that combined with sEMG biofeedback andsEMG-Triggered-NMES. The instrument facilitates the rehabilitation of stroke patients, and at the same time the therapy can relieve or eliminate depression and other mentalproblem of the patients. In this treatment method, patients can make it fully recoveredphysically and mentally, and eventually return home or even return to society. This paper’s main work is to develop Linux-based embedded systems to achievethe above rehabilitation therapy. And the produced prototype has already completedsystem test and finished registration testing in Chongqing Medical Equipment QualityInspection Center. Meanwhile we developed the clinical trial protocol and thenconducted clinical trials to verify the instrument rehabilitation after obtaining medicaldevice registration certificate. It turned out that, under the psychological suggestion of physical stimuluscombined with EMGBF, patients can participate more actively in the treatment process. The system takes ARM as the core (kernel), with features such as compact in size, usingLCD touch screen, and easy operation, proved to be easy to operate and stable. Inpreliminary clinical trials, the system have been validated the effectiveness for medicalrehabilitation of patients with stroke motor function, providing effective, reliableplatform for the rehabilitation of stroke patients.
