Objective: Jiawei Wendan Decoction prescribed by chief physician LiaoZhifeng, famous doctor of traditional Chinese medicine, was applied in treatingphlegm heat obstruction syndrome of reflux esophagitis (reflux esophagitis,RE).Through randomized control observation, the clinical efficacy and safety ofJiawei Wendan decoction were comprehensively evaluated from the clinicalsymptoms and esophageal mucosal repair under endoscopic to provide a theoreticalbasis for its clinic application.Methods:98cases of RE patients that meeting the inclusion criteria wererandomized into two groups.49cases in the treatment group orally took JiaweiWendan Decoction;49cases in the control group orally took Omeprazoleenteric-coated tablets and Domperidone tablets; the two groups were all treated for8weeks. Comprehensive clinic curative effects and changes of the mucosa undergastroscopy were observed. Changes during the treatment were recorded, such assymptoms, mucosal repair. Data were analyzed by SPSS13.0statistical software.Result: Before treatment, there was no significant difference in gender, age andgastric mucosal changes between the2groups (P>0.05). After treatment,22cases inthe treatment group and23cases in the control group were examined randomly underendoscope. Esophageal mucosa were improved in the two groups. In the treatmentgroup, curative rate was45.5%, the total effective rate was86.4%; in the controlgroup, the curative rate was36.7%, the total effective rate was70%. The wasstatistical significance between the2groups (P <0.05). TCM score comparisonbetween the two groups, In the treatment group, the total effective rate was93.6%; inthe control group, the total effective rate was73.9%. TCM symptoms and frequencyof improvement in treatment group was significantly better than that in the controlgroup (P <0.01). RDQ score comparison between the two groups: before treatment, there was no statistical significance (P>0.05); at the4thweek, RDQ scores werecompared before and after treatment in the treatment group and had significantdifference (P <0.05), and the treatment effect is obvious; in the control group before and after treatment, RDQ score were statistically significant (P <0.05), clinicalcurative effect is obvious. The two groups after treatment had no significant difference(P>0.05), there were no difference in RDQ between the2groups. At the8th week,RDQ scores were compared before and after treatment in the treatment group withsignificant difference (P <0.01); in the control group, there were statisticallysignificance before and after treatment (P <0.05). After treatment, there was statisticaldifference between the2groups in RDQ score (P <0.01), and RDQ in treatmentgroup was significantly better than that in the control group. Conclusion: Jiawei Wendan Decoction in the treatment of phlegm heatobstruction reflux esophagitis is better and safer than western medicine, which can bewidely used in clinic with further research value.
