Lycoris sprengeri Comes ex Baker originates in the lower reaches of the YangtzeRiver. Its bulbs have been used as traditional Chinese medicinal materials for thetreatment of tumefaction, pruritus, flare and scald. Screening of anti-Aβ1-42activityof the radix extraction in vitro suggested that the dichloromethane and n-butanolfractions were the active parts.A further investigation into dichloromethane fraction has been taken.31compounds were isolated, and they were identified according to their physical andchemical constants, spectra data and the result of comparing with the laboratorysamples isolated before. They are β-Sitosterol (LS-1), n-Heneicosane (LS-2),hexadecanol (LS-3), Daucosterol (LS-4), lycorine (LS-5), tazzetine (LS-6),pesudolycorine (LS-7), Zephyranthine (LS-8), N-Ethyllycorine (LS-9), Trisphaeridine(LS-10), Amarbellisine (LS-11), N-methylcrinasiadine (LS-12), Montabuphine(LS-13), Tortuosine (LS-14), galanthine (LS-15), Homolycorine (LS-16)galantamine(LS-17), Lycorenan (LS-18), lycoramine (LS-19), N-Demethyllycoramine (LS-21),N-Demethylganaltamine (LS-22), puluviine (LS-23), Hippadine (LS-24), Incartine(LS-25), Lycorenine (LS-26), N-chloromethylycoramine (LS-27), O-methyllycorenine (LS-28), O-Ethyllycorenine (LS-29), N-chloromethy narcissidine(LS-30),4-((3R)-3-(hydroxymethyl)-5-((Z)-3-hydroxyprop-1-en-1-yl)-7-methoxy-2,3-dihydrobenzofuran-2-yl)-2-methoxyphenol (LS-31). LS-27is a novel compound.LS-1-31are isolated from this plant for the first time.The results of a series of pharmacological screening experiments suggest thatLS-6, LS-12LS-17, LS-21, LS-23, LS-24, LS-25, LS-27, LS-28, LS-30can protect(SH-SY5Y)against the oxidative damage caused by H2O2in varying degrees, andLS-12, LS-14LS-17, LS-19, LS-23, LS-24and LS-30can protect SH-SY5Y cellsagainst the hypoxic damage caused by CoCl2significantly.
