Objective: To investigate that the melatonin (MLT) could protect SD rats’kidney tissue from the chronic intermittent hypoxia damage in the Atmosphericpressure. It is aim to find the theoretical basis of new drugs to prevent the adultsfrom the damage caused by obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome(OSAHS).Methods:1.The24male,5weeks SD rats (provided from animal lab), feedingnormal diets and normal water3days, were randomly divided into threegroups.(1)8rats were sent into the control group.(2)16experiments rats weredivided into two groups averagely: experiment group H and experiment groupM,and recorded the initial weight of each rat.2.the control group rats were fedwith normal saline solution(NS) at1mg/kg in the normal oxygen pressureeveryday18:00,and were sent to the darkroom of normal oxygen pressureeveryday22:00-06:00to have a rest(the volume fraction of O2is0.21);the experiment group H rats were fed with melatonin (MLT) at1mg/kg in thenormal oxygen pressure everyday18:00, and were sent to the darkroom ofhypoxia everyday22:00-06:00(the volume fraction of O2is0.085); theexperiment group M rats were fed with normal saline solution(NS) at1mg/kg inthe normal oxygen pressure everyday18:00,and were sent to the darkroom ofhypoxia everyday22:00-06:00(the volume fraction of O2is0.085).3.After3groups of rats respectively under atmospheric oxygen and atmosphericintermittent hypoxic life three weeks, experiment all of rats were killed bysnapping their spines at normal oxygen pressure, and detected their blood ureanitrogen(BUN) and serum creatinine(Cr). The control group with the same.Result: experiment group H’s BUN and Cr respectively were (7.60±1.02)、(45.25±6.30), the control group’s were (5.02±1.13)、(34.86±5.38), experimentgroup H’s were significantly increasing than the control group’s (P<0.01). Theabove indicators had obvious difference between experiment group H’s and thecontrol group’s(P>0.05); BUN and Cr of experiment group M(6.16±0.95)、(37.75±5.28) were significantly increasing than the control group’s(P>0.05).The another indicators had significantly difference between experiment groupM’s and experiment group H’s. There were no obvious difference betweenexperiment group M’s and the control group’s(P>0.05).Conclusion: the chronic intermittent hypoxia could damage SD rats’kidney.Melatonin(MLT)could prevent kidney tissue from the chronic intermittent hypoxia damage. Thus MLT would exert preventive and protective effects onkidney.
