Background And Objectives:Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans(DFSP) is an uncommon dermal soft issue tumor of intermediate malignancy, but has high local recurrence rate. The objectives of this study were to analyze the clinicopathologic factors, find their relationship with recurrence rate. Methods:A retrospective study was conducted on49patients who were treated between1998and2012in Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital using SPSS10.0software.Factors evaluated including:location of tumor, size of tumor, history of recurrence, margins, depth.Univariate analysis was performed using Chi-square test and multivariate analysis was performed using Logistic regression model.Result:In49patients,total9patient had recurrence.Total recurrence rate was18.4%.All patients were followed for at least6months,mean following time was64months(6months to llyears).Mean tumor free time was16months(3months to3years).No metastatic was found.Univariate analysis showed margin and depth significantly affect the recurrence rate.Multivariate analysis showed margin and depth were the independent factors. Conclusion:1.DFSP has high wrong diagnosis rate.2.The diagnosis of DFSP is made using histologic analysis, often with the assistance of immunohistochemical stains.3.DFSP has high recurrence rate.Univariate analysis showed margin and depth significantly affect the recurrence rate.Multivariate analysis showed margin and depth were the independent factors.4.Postoperative radiotherapy may reduce the risk of local recurrence.
