Objective: The incidence of thyroid cancer in recent years gradually increased, especially in differentiated thyroid carcinoma (differentiated thyroid caneer, DTC), forthe early diagnosis and treatment of patients, the5year survival rate can be as high as95.8%, so as soon as possible to distinguish the benign and malignant thyroid nodules, have important implications for treatment and prognosis patients. Serum thyroidstimulating hormone (Thyrotropic stimulating hormone, TSH) is a secreted by thepituitary gland thyroid stimulating growth factor, research shows that, the concentration ofTSH and DTC occurrence, development. Through parallel operation in our hospitaltreatment of400cases of thyroid nodules in patients with preoperative serum TSH valuewere analyzed retrospectively, to study the relationship between TSH and DTC, so as toexplore a simple and effective method for the differential diagnosis of benign andmalignant thyroid nodules. Methods:From the medical records in our hospital during theperiod of filing cases, from2009January to2011December in our hospital underwentoperation treatment for patients with thyroid nodules. Exclude factors with serum TSHlevel of anthropogenic impact: history of thyroid operation history, hyperthyroidism orhypothyroidism patients with oral thyroid medication history, the history of Hashimoto’sthyroiditis, subacute thyroiditis or preoperative. The data archive information, includinggeneral data, preoperative thyroid ultrasound, preoperative laboratory tests, postoperativepathology report, operation record. According to the pathological results after operationfor benign thyroid nodules and DTC group. Analysis of the clinical data of two groupsusing SPSS17.0software. Results:1. Preoperative serum TSH in differentiated thyroidcancer(DTC) was higher than that without thyroid carcinoma, which was(2.94±1.74)uIU/mL and (1.92±1.45)uIU/mL.respectively(P<0.01)2. The risk ofmalignancy increased as serum level of TSH rose in nodular goiter patients. 3.TSH levels of cervical lymph node metastasis is higher than those without metastasisgroup in differentiated thyroid cancer(DTC) patients(P <0.01).Conclusion:The likelihoodof thyroid cancer increases with higher serum TSH concentration. Preoperative serumTSH level perhaps is a risk predictor for differentiated thyroid cancer(DTC).Higher TSHlevel is associated with lateral lymph node metastasis.
