Objective: Through the summary and analysis of mandibular fracture clinical casesto explore the etiology, treatment and postoperative complications of mandibular fracture.Methods: A total of270patients with fracture of mandible at department of oral andmaxillofacial surgery in the first teaching hospital of xinjiang medical university fromJanuary2006to January2012. Their age, gender, cause of fractures, time distribution ofinjury, pattern of fracture, associated systemic injure, classification of fracture, modusoperandi, postoperative infection and ankylosis of temporomandibular jiont weresummarized.Results: In the270patients of mandibular fractures,83.33%of the patients were male. Asthe major traffic accident injury factors accounted for46.67%, especially in May andOctober. There were404fractures in the270patients, fracture of mental foramen is themost common seize accounting for30.94%, followed by condylar fracture accounted for22.77%. Condylar fracture of intracapsular fractures, extracapsular fractures, sagittal sawfracture, accounted for62.28%,27.19%,10.53%. The366sections of404fractures werecure with rigid internal fixation. Operation mode with intraoral incision is the mostcommon method accounted for59.02%, In the270cases of patients with postoperativeinfection were13cases. There were5cases got the temporomandibular joint ankylosis inthese patients after operation.Conclusion: The young male patients are more in mandibular fractures as raffic accidentis the most common cause. The most common injuries are the maxillary fracture and ZCF.The most common part of fracture is the mental foramen region. The common method ofoperation is intraoral incision. Open fractures and extraoral incision have a higherinfection rate. There were no significant differences between different parts of the fractureand the rate of postoperative infection. The formation of TMJA with no significantdifference between the sagittal fracture of mandibular condyle fractures. RIF has beenwidely applied.
