A Comparison Of Serum Interleukin-2,6Levels In The First Episode Of Depressed Patients In Uygur And Han Before And After The Treatment In Xinjiang

Objective: To explore the effect and differences of the IL-2, IL-6and sIL-2R,sIL-6R in the first episode of depressed patients in Xinjiang Uygur and Han. Methods: Acase-control study was conducted. Subjects included first episode depressed Uygurpatients (57cases) and first episode depressed Han patients (60cases). And age-matchedhealthy normal controls(55Uygur and55Han) were consecutively recruited in the study.The Hamilton Depression Rating Scale-17items (HAMD24) was used to evaluate theseverity of depressive symptoms; The serum level of IL-2, IL-6and sIL-2R, sIL-6R wasdetected with Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for each group, and beforeand after the treatment of depression in patients as well. Results:①The serum IL-2, IL-6and sIL-2R, sIL-6R concentration values of Uygur and Han depression patients werehigher than that of the corresponding control group (P＜0.01).②After treatment, theserum IL-2, IL-6and sIL-2R, sIL-6R concentration values in Uygur and Han patientswere lower than before treatment (P＜0.01).③There were no statistical differencesbetween Uygur and Han patients in the serum concentration values of IL-2, IL-6andsIL-2R, sIL-6R levels.④The serum concentration values of IL-2(r=0.677, P=0.000)and IL-6(r=0.197, P=0.033) were positively correlated with total score of HAMD inUygur and Han patients. Conclusion: IL-2, IL-6may play a role in the onset ofdepression in Uygur and Han. Venlafaxine have may inhibit or reduce of IL-2, IL-6generated, thereby improve the symptoms of depression.
