Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of VEGF、b-FGF andNOB1in gastric cancer. Methods Expression of VEGF、b-FGF and NOB1in70cases of gastric cancerspecimens and the corresponding cutting edge specimens without significantpathological change(as control specimens) was investigated by immunohistochemicalmethods. The relation between the expression of VEGF、b-FGF and NOB1andclinicopathological characters in gastric cancer patients was analyzed. The relationshipbetween the different indexes was also analyzed.Result1.The positive expression of VEGF、b-FGF and NOB1in70cases of gastric cancertissues was68.6%(48/70)、64.3%(45/70) and65.7%(46/70), respectively. Thepositive expression of VEGF、b-FGF and NOB1in70cases of the correspondinggastric mucosa at cutting edge specimens was27.1%(19/70)、24.3%(17/70) and47.1%(33/70), respectively. There was significant difference between the twogroups (p<0.05).2. The positive expression of VEGF、b-FGF and NOB1in gastric cancer tissues variedsignificantly with differentiation degree,TNM stages, lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis respectively (P <0.05), while The positive expression of VEGF、b-FGF and NOB1in gastric cancer tissues did not vary significantly with age, gender, tumor size and tumor localization was found respectively.(P>0.05).3.The expression of VEGF was positively correlated with b-FGF (K=0.521,P<0.05).The expression of VEGF was positively correlated with NOB1(K=0.288,P<0.05).The expression of b-FGF was positively correlated with NOB1(K=0.655,P<0.05).Conclusion1.The expression of VEGF、b-FGF and NOB1in gastric cancer was significantlyincreased.2.The positive expression of VEGF、b-FGF and NOB1in gastric cancer wascorrelated with differentiation degree,TNM stages, lymph node metastasis and distantmetastasis, which suggested that they promoted the development and metastasis ofgastric cancer. The detection of their expression may be used as an objective index forpredicting the prognosis and biological behavior of gastric cancer.3.The positive correlation between NOB1,b-FGF and VEGF in gastric cancersuggested that the three indexes involved in development of gastric cancer. NOB1mayenhance the expression of b-FGF and VEGF that promoted the development andmetastasis of gastric cancer.
