The Comparison Of Refractive Outcome Of Age-related Cataract Between IOL Master And A-Scan Biometry

Objective:To evaluate the clinical feasibility of IOL Master comparing with contactA-Scan biometry in the accuracy of intraocular lens(IOL)power calculation. Methods: Inthe retrospective clinical trial,76eyes of70age—related cataract patients underwentphacoemulsification with monofocal foldable IOLs implantation.Before surgery,axiallength(AL)and corneal curvature were measured with IOL Master and combinedapplication of Contact A-Scan and manual keratometry,respectively, it divided ioto IOLMaster group and A-Scan group, IOL power were calculated according to theSRK-II(20mm≤AL≤26mm)formula．The refractive outcome were followed—up3months after operation and uses mean absolute refractive error as the test standard.Results: There was no significant difference between the two groups in AL measurement,which was (23.85±1.05)mm by IOL Master and(23.40±0.17)mm by ContactA-Scan(t=1.429, P>0.05); In keratometer measurement, which was (43.78±1.14)D byIOL Master and (43.32±0.80)D by manual keratometry, there was no significantdifference between them(t=1.323, P>0.05).3months after surgery, there was acomparison between the two groups, with the MARE≤0.5D,and a significant differencebetween them in20mm≤AL＜22mm and22mm≤AL＜24mm, with the MARE≤1.0D,there was a significant difference between them in20mm≤AL＜22mm; there was acomparison between the different axial length within the two groups, with the MARE≤0.5D and MARE≤1.0D, there was a significant difference in A-Scan group(P<0.05).Conclusion: IOL Master is more accurate than Contact A-Scan in AL measurement andIOL power calculation，the former is more stable than the latter.
