In this paper, the chemical composition and bioactivities of two Meliaceaeplants, including Aphanamixis grandifolia and Cipadessa cinerascens, wereinvestigated. By varieties of chromatographies and spectroscopic methods,37compounds were isolated and identified, including seven new compounds. The typeof these isolates involved triterpenoids, limonoids, diterpenoids, sesquiterpenoids, lignans and so on. The cytotoxic, insecticide, and antibacterial activities of selectedcompounds have also been evaluated, and the results showed that four compoundspossessed weak insecticide and antibacterial activities. In this paper, phytochemistryresearch progresses on the genus Cipadessa had also been reviewed.Chapter I: Phytochemistry investigations on the leaves and twigs ofAphanamixis grandifolia have led to the isolation of16compounds, including sixnew triterpenoids. The types of the rest of the compounds were belonging totriterpenoids, diterpenoids, sesquiterpenoids, steroids, lignans and so on. Moreover,compounds2,3,5showed weak insecticide activities, and compounds2,4,8showed weak antibacterial activities (MIC values:1.57–3.13g/mL).Chapter II: The study on the chemical constituent of Cipadessa cinerascens.21compounds included15limonoids, a sesquiterpenoid and five fatty acids wereisolated from its fruits. Among them, one new compound (1) was obtained.Chapter III: The progress of phytochemistry research on the genus Cipadessawas reviewed.
