The doctor-patient communication refers to the communication between the medical staff of medical institutions and patients and their families on the condition, diagnosis and treatment, health and related factors (such as cost, service, etc.) during the ordinary course of diagnosis and treatment. The doctor-patient communication can be divided into technical communication and non-technical communication, verbal communication and non-verbal communication. It is of great significance for the level of medical services as well as the physician-patient relationship. The main factors affecting the doctor-patient communication include psychological factors cultural factors and physical factors.Currently, the doctor-patient communication in China is in good condition. Doctors and patients have both realized the importance of the doctor-patient communication; fell satisfied with the basic condition of mutual communication between each other. Compared with the doctors, the patients fell more relatively satisfied with communication time. The main problems are as follows:first, technical communication and more than non-technical communication; second, communication is short of good skill and language seem to be blunt or abrupt; third, some doctors’ communication will have reduced. The main reason for these problems are as follows:scientism makes the relationship between scientific spirit and humanistic spirit dysfunctional, patient distrust doctors, and the doctor-patient communication education is not perfect. We can learn from the foreign doctor-patient communication, such as the emphasis on the knowledge and skills of medical communication education, and mobilization of social forces to promote doctor-patient communication. In my opinion, at the macro level, the government should increase investment in medical institutions, and improve the basic health care system; improve the medical security system furtherly. At the meso level, hospitals should strengthen the education and training of the doctor-patient communication skills; provide a good environment for medical treatment; use modern network technology to broaden the channels of communication. At the micro level, the doctors and patients should improve the mutual understanding. First, it is necessary for the doctors to change their idea that patients are purely organism concept into the idea that patients are social human beings full of emotional needs, and should be fully aware of the impact of illness on patients. Second, doctors should pay more attention to the feedback from patients. Third, doctors should know the differences between the oral communication and the doctor-patient communication and positively bridge the gap between them. On the other hand, patients also should improve the scientific and cultural qualities and see the disease state rationally, understand the hard work and pressure for the doctors. I believe that under the joint efforts, the doctor-patient communication will be more perfect.
