Objective:To develop a simple, reliable, effect scale for measuring nursing undergraduate’snon-technical skills. Methods:The framework and items of the non-technical skills system for nursingundergraduates were initially defined by the research group through reviewingliterature and opening questionnaire and discussion. Then, thirty domestic experts wereselected, including9nursing management experts,15nursing educational experts,4sociologists and2psychologists. The index system of non-technical skills for nursingundergraduates and a primary scale with68items were revised after three rounds ofexpert consultation. Three hundred and seventy-one nursing undergraduates from twouniversities in Hunan province were picked out by cluster sampling and investigatedwith nursing undergraduates’ non-technical skills scale (test edition),demographyquestionnaire and social desirability scale. The data were analyzed with the SPSS17.0statistic software, such as item analysis and exploratory factor analysis, and items ofnor-technical skills were revised according to the results so as to finally construct aNursing Undergraduates’ Nor-technical Skills Assessment Scale (applying edition)with47items. In the second round,941nursing undergraduates from two universitiesin Hunan province were picked out by cluster sampling and investigated with nursingundergraduates’ non-technical skills scale (applying edition). The data were analyzedwith the SPSS17.0and AMOS7.0statistic software packages, including item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability and validityanalysis, so as to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale.Results:1.Establish the nursing undergraduates’ non-technical skills scale. The final scaleof nursing undergraduates’ non-technical skills was composed by46items,3subscales, 9dimensions.①Basic skills subscales consisted of3dimensions: self-control skills (5items), professional quality and ego consciousness skills (4items) and legal and socialawareness skills (5items);②Crucial skills subscale included4dimensions:discrimination and perception skills (3items), humanistic care skills (5items),interpersonal skills (6items) and adjustment capacity (6items);③Progressive skillssubscale consisted of2dimensions: self-improvement skills (7items) and leadershipmanagement skills (5items).2.The validity and coefficient of final scale. The three subscales’2/df were1.807~2.515, REMSEA were0.043~0.059, GFI, AGFI, CFI were all more than0.90,NFI was more than0.80. The scale’s structure validity was good. The scale’sCronbach’s α was0.928, split coefficient was0.886, the test-retest coefficient was0.993.Conclusion:The non-technical skills scale of the nursing undergraduates structured by us has agood reliability and validity, can be used as a tool to measure non-technical skills ofthe nursing undergraduates.
