Objective To observe the effect on the prevention and pulmonary functionimprovement of inhaling fluticasone propionate for infant repeated wheezing afterbronchiolitis.Methods102children cases after bronchiolitis diagnosed in our hospital between2011November to2012April were randomly divided into two groups: the observationgroup and the control group. The observation group continued to add fluticasonepropionate,125μg,Bid,to stick to the end of follow-up.The control group did not usefluticasone propionate. The results of the two groups of children were recordedrespectively every month, including the time of first recurrence, the number、frequencyand duration of wheezing, the nebulized hormone dosage, the intravenous hormonedosage, bronchodilator dosage, hospital days, treatment costs and pulmonary functiontest results. Then the results were compared to evaluate the preventive effect. Results The wheezing children with first relapse in observer group was significantlyless than the control group in the first three months of follow-up,(P<0.05). After3months of follow-up observation group of children with wheezing frequency wassignificantly less than that of the control group,(P<0.05).But average per wheezingduration was no difference between the two groups. To the end of follow-up, thecumulative number of wheezing episodes in observed group was significantly less thanthat of the control group,(P<0.05). The lung function index improved earlier inobservation group than the control group,(P<0.05).The inhaled corticosteroids, bronchiectasis agent dosage and intravenous corticosteroids in observation group werelower than the control group on average wheezing,(P<0.05). In addition, theobservation group of children in the follow-up a year of average cost is used to control the breathing drugs, as well as the average number of days in the hospital due tobreathing attack are less than the control group. Conclusions Fluticasone propionate has an effect on prevention of recurrent wheezingin children after bronchiolitis, can be used as prevention of recurrent wheezinginterventions, economical and practical, safe and effective.
