Objective To observe changes in peripheral T lymphocytes of patients with lumbardisc herniation, and look for any clinically relevant links between T lymphocyte subsetsin the peripheral blood and signs of lumbar disc herniationos.Method Blood samples were collected from21patients with lumbar discherniationos(study group),these patients come from Rehabilitation Department of theSecond Hospital of AnHui Medical University, and blood samples were also collectedfrom21healthy controls.T lymphocytes subsets in the peripheral blood of the studygroup and control group were detected by flow cytometer.Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)、straight leg raising test (SLR) and Simplified Chinese Version of OswestryDisability Index(SCODI) of study group were assessed.Statistical analysis wereperformed by SPSS.Results Percentages of CD4+T lymphocytes and ratio of CD4+/CD8+in the studygroup were significantly higher than in the control group(P<0.05). No statistically significant differences of the percentages of CD3+and CD8+T lymphocytes wasobserved between study group and control group.Negative correlation was observedbetween the angle of SLR and the percentages of CD3+、CD4+T lymphocytes(r=-0.554and-0.556,P<0.01).Conclusion Our results suggest T lymphocytes may play an important role in theautoimmune response of lumbar disc herniationos, and as an influencing factorparticipate in developing symptoms in patients with lumbar intervertebral discherniation.
