The Ficus auriculata lour belongs to Ficus genus of Moraceae. It has been usedas Chinese folk medicine for the treatment of hyperactivity cough, nocturnal emission. There were no chemical constituents and pharmacological activities reasearchreported previously on F. auriculata. The active ingredients of the sterm of Ficusauriculata lour were studied through the methods of extraction, separation, purification and structural characterization. At the same time, in order to find thestrong anti-osteoporotic activity compounds, the anti-osteoporotic activity of thecrude extracts and the monomeric compounds have been evaluated, which willprovide a theoretical basis and foundation material for the development and utilizationof the Ficus auriculata lour.Under the guidance of the anti-osteoporotic activity, the petroleum ether, chloroform and ethyl acetate fractions of the sterm of Ficus auriculata lour werepurified by means of silica gel column chromatography, Sephadex LH-20, preparativethin layer chromatography and recrystallization etc. Forty compounds (1–40) wereisolated and puried from the sterm of the F. auriculata, including4new compoundsand a new natural product. They were divided into7macrolides,10isoflavones,6steroids,4isocoumarins,4benzene derivatives,3alkaloids and6other compounds.Compounds1–3,9were new compounds, compound9was new natural products,Compounds4–7,16,20,22and24–39were isolated from the Ficus genus for the firsttime. All compounds were isolated from Ficus auriculata Lour for the first time.Under the guidance of the anti-osteoporotic activity, the anti-osteoporotic activitywas evaluated for all extracts and the monomeric compounds. The results showed thatall extracts exhibited significant effects on promote osteoblast proliferation,compounds4and11exhibited significant effects on promote osteoblast proliferation,compounds12,14and25exhibited strong effects on promote osteoblast proliferation.
