Objective Temporomandibular disorders is to point to the pain in the temporomandibular joint area, abnormal joint sound and mandibular movement dysfunction as the main characteristics and does not belong to rheumatism and other clinical or pathology diagnosis specific kind of temporomandibular joint disease body. Temporomandibular disorders is a kind of commonly and frequently-occurring in dental clinic. The theories dealing with the aetiology are complex. The occlusal factors, psychological factors, immunological factors and so on are common. The present studies are focused on clarily the pathogenetic mechanisms of TMD, and more and more scholars have acknowledged psychological factors play a very important role in the aetiology and treatment of TMD. TMD patients reportly in many literatures have light, moderate mood disorders as well as personality disorders which may be an important cause of breaking out repeatedly and long-term deferment. In the social psychological factors, TMD patients display obvious personality deviation, poor life events, bad mood and negative coping styles. SIgA is a kind of important anti-infective substances in the saliva. SIgA in oral mucosal local immune defense plays the leading role, so SIgA is an important immune barrier in oral anti-infection. The purpose of this paper is to study TMD patients feeling, emotion, thinking consciousness, behavior and living habits, interpersonal relationship, diet, sleep, and SIgA content, through which to study the relationship between social psychological factors of TMD patients and SIgA content in saliva. Methods The SCL-90, and HAD carried on the questionnaire survey to patients group (30) and control group (34). Survey datas are put into Delphi system as digital questionnaires. Subjects spit out2-3ml non irritant saliva before the psychological tests. Using radiate-immune method determines SIgA content in saliva.Results1. Scores of all factors except terror of TMD patients in SCL-90were significantly higher than those of the normal control. The measured results of the factors in30patients’SCL-90results except the factor of somatization, terror and paranoid were abnormal. If single factor score≥2, proportion of depression, others, compulsion, anxiety of SCL-90in TMD patients were higher.2. The scores of anxiety and depression of TMD patients in HAD are significantly higher than those of the normal control.3. The SIgA contents of TMD patients were significantly lower than those of the normal control. The SIgA contents of TMD patients was correlated to the positive factor of psychotism in SCL-90(r=-0.462, P<0.05),and which were significantly correlated to the scores of anxiety(r=-0.627, P<0.01) and depression in HAD(r=-0.573, P<0.01).Conclusions1. The results of SCL-90show that the TMD patients have mild or moderate metal disorders or on the verge of a mental disorder. TMD patients’psychological status can be understood by SCL-90in clinic.2. The results of HAD show that the TMD patients have obvious anxiety, depression of mental psychological factors.3. The SIgA contents in saliva of TMD patients was correlated to the positive factor of psychotism in SCL-90, and which were significantly correlated to the scores of anxietyand depression in HAD. The SIgA contents of TMD patients were significantly lower than those of the normal control. TMD patients had obvious harmful emotions, such as anxiety and depression, the sensitive interpersonal relationship and mild or moderate mood disorders, which can induce the obvious and chronic stress and decrease of oral immune function. It may be one of the causes of TMD.
