With the development of electronic devices and communications echnology, the effeftsof electromagnetic fields on human has been growing. These effects have both the positivesides and the negative sides. Bioelectromagnetic effect is to study the relationship and theinteraction between the biological system and the electromagnetic field. And it has a closerelationship with life science, environmental science, biomedical engineering, andelectromagnetics. People use the positive effects of electromagnetic fields on humanconsciously by studying more about the bioelectromagnetic effects. Apply it to biomedicalresearches and the treatment of some diseases, and finally to achieve the purpose oftreatment. The electrical stimulation and magnetic stimulation have been attracted theconcern and attention of more and more researchers. In this study, electrical stimulation and magnetic stimulation were applied to thepatients with sleep disorders. And through the analyses of the EEG power spectrum, EEGtime frequency and EEG complexity of the patients before and after the stimulation wecan see that electrical stimulation and magnetic stimulation can make the patients’ brainsto produce certain biological effects:1) Before the insomnia patients receiving electrical stimulations, δ-waves had a highproportion while both the θ-waves and α-waves had low proportions, β-waves were closeto zero and EEG complexity values were generally at a low level. After the insomniapatients receiving electrical stimulations the δ-waves are reduced with the increasing ofα-waves, but the β-waves are rarely appears and the EEG complexity values wereimproved. This indicates that the electrical stimulation has a therapeutic effect oninsomnia patients as their feeling of fatigue reduced, the ability of processing informationimproved, brain becoming more active and falling into asleep at night easier than beforeafter the treatment.2) Before the narcolepsy patients receiving magnetic stimulation, the number oftransient pulse in Patients’ brain waves was large and the EEG complexity values were low.But after receiving the magnetic stimulation of the narcolepsy patients, the number oftransient waves and the short period and irresistible sleep are all reduced. This indicatesthat magnetic stimulation has a therapeutic effect on narcolepsy patients. The electrical stimulation treatment is applied to six insomnia patients who are numbered from001to006. While the magnetic stimulation treatment is applied to threenarcolepsy patients who are numbered form007to009. All the9treatments were appliedin the Sleep Disorders Research Center of Bethune International Peace Hospital. Eachstimulation time is30minutes and totally20days.
