Objective: Analysis to explore the relationship between chronic periodontitis andcoronary heart disease by observing the IL-8, IL-1O level changes in serum andgingival crevicular fluid before and after the basic periodontal therapy of the elderlypatients, who have developed chronic severe periodontitis and coronary heart disease, and to provide the basis for research and prevention of coronary heart disease and itsdevelopment. Methods: To select65cases of patients with moderately severe periodontitis andcoronary heart disease (steadiness) and divided them into two groups randomly: groupA of35people, who receive the basic periodontal therapy and cardiac medical treatment;group B of30people, who merely receive cardiology treatment. Then, select25peoplewho only develop chronic severe periodontitis (CHD) to establish group C and givethem merely the basic periodontal therapy. Establish group D of30healthy people(without coronary heart disease and chronic periodontitis diseases) and treat them withno therapy.Process includes questionnaires, periodontal examination, the collection ofgingival crevicular fluid and serum samples; to give people in group A and group Cperiodontal treatment and then to review them and take samples from them inrespectively three and six months; to examine gingival crevicular fluid and serum IL-8,IL-10levels by the method of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay reaction (ELISA).Use SPSS11.5software package to make a statistical analysis of the datacollected. Results: The contrast analysis of results before and after the basic periodontaltherapy: Comparing group A and group C, when the patient’s age, gender, periodontal infection index (SBI, PD) are in a similar and general lever, gingival crevicular fluidand serum IL-8of group A is higher than that of groupC, and IL-10of group A is lowerthan that of group C; Comparing between group A and group B, there are no significantdifferences. The SBI, PD of group A, B and C was significantly greater than Group D.The gingival crevicular fluid and serum IL-8water were higher than those of group D,and IL-10were generally lower than those of group D. The difference was statisticallysignificant (P <0.01).The contrast analysis of results after3months’ basic periodontal treatment:Comparing group A and group B, SBI and PD of group A is less than that of group B,gingival crevicular fluid and serum IL-8of group A are lower than those of group B,and IL-10of group A is higher than that of group B. Comparing group A and group C,SBI, PD of group A are greater than those of group C, gingival crevicular fluid andserum IL-8of group A are higher than those of group C, and IL-10of group A is lowerthan that of group C. The difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).The contrast of analysis of results after6months’ basic periodontal treatment: TheSBI, PD of group A are less than those of group B, IL-8lower than that of group B,IL-10higher than that of group B; The SBI, PD of group A are greater than those ofgroup C, IL-8is higher than that of group C, and IL-10is lower than that of groupC.The difference was statistically significant (P <0.01).The contrast before and after the basic periodontal therapy itself: after3monthsand6months’ intervention therapy, SBI, PD, gingival crevicular fluid and serum ofIL-8of the patients are significantly lower IL-10than it was before the therapy. Thedifference was statistically significant (P <0.05).The correlation analysis of each examination index before and after the basicperiodontal therapy: The IL-8of gingival crevicular fluid and serum is positivelycorrelated to SBI and PD (P <0.05), IL-10of gingival crevicular fluid and serum isnegatively correlated to SBI, PD (P <0.05).Conclusion: In the sample of the elderly patients who have the similarperiodontal conditions, the IL-8, IL-10of gingival crevicular fluid and serum aredifferent. The IL-8of patients with soly periodontitis diseases is lower than that of thepatients with chronic periodontitis and coronary heart disease. The IL-10is higher thanthat of the patients with coronary heart disease. However, there are still differencesbetween the patients and the healthy people in the aspect of examination index. The basic periodontal therapy can effectively improve periodontitis conditions of the patients with chronic periodontal diseases, and reduce the IL-8, increase the IL-10ofthe whole body, controlling the factors of inflammation and infection, as well asreducing the risk of breaking the normal cardiovascular function. The IL-8of gingival crevicular fluid and serum is positively related to the SBI andPD. The IL-10is negatively related to the SBI and PD. It indicates that IL-8and IL-10may effect the chronic periodontitis diseases. The basic periodontal therapy has a better effect on the patients with chronicperiodontitis in a short term than the long term.
