Objective:To understand the sleeping condition of infantile eczema, to find outthe prevalence of sleep disorders, the average total sleeping time per day and parentsself-assessment of eczema infantile’s sleep quality.Methods:The method is questionnaire survey of forward-looking, face to face andone to one that we surveyed parents of infantile eczema in case of infantile eczemasleeping questionnaire in Dalian which was designed by ourselves according to2to12years old children’s sleep questionnaire18cities throughout the country. The parents oftake care of the daily lives of children filled out the questionnaire. We explainedpurpose, meaning and principle of confidentiality before the parents fill out sleepquestionnaire. The parents truthfully fill out sleeping condition of infantile eczema. Tothese parents who are disable to filled in the table by themselves,the investigator willhelp to record the information truthfully after asking the basic sleeping condition ofchildren. The investigator explained to how filled in the table to these parents.Recycling standards in accordance with the questionnaire careful verification, uniformquestionnaires before confirm compliance with requirements. From september2010toseptember2011,111patients with infantile eczema whom according to eczemadiagnosis criteria, informed and agreed by the parents and excluded premature labor,birth asphyxia, other allergic diseases except eczema, with heart, liver,lung,kidney andchronic diseases, thyroid dysfunction, mental illness, infectious diseases from0to3years old were investigated, in allergy outpatient of children’s hospital of Dalian, for theprevalence of sleep disorders, sleeping time, times of get up and assessment of sleepquality were described and analyzed; prevalences of sleep disorders in infantile eczemaand normal age children were compared, prevalences of sleep disorders and self-assessment were compared using the2test. Results:1.The prevalence of sleep disorders was74.8%in111patients with infantileeczema who met the inclusion criteria. The prevalence of sleep disorders was higher ininfantile eczema than in normal age children, the differences was significant(P<0.05).2.In a variety of related symptoms of sleep disorders, the prevalence of disturbedsleep is highest(41.4%), sleep apnea and go to sleep too early are lowest(3.6%), and theprevalence of order symptoms from high to low is hyperhidrosis(30.6%), easy to wakeup(27%), mouth breathing(23.4%), frequent sleep snoring(20.7%), sleep teethgrinding(11.7%), sleep talk(11.7%). The prevalence of disturbed sleep, easy to wake up,mouth breathing, frequent sleep snoring, sleep teeth grinding and sleep apnea werehigher in infantile eczema than in normal age children, the differences was significant(P<0.05). And the prevalence of hyperhidrosis, go to sleep too early, and sleep talkingare not significant difference(P>0.05).3.The prevalence of different sleep disorders was not significant different ininfantile between boys and girls(P>0.05).4.The average daily sleep time in eczema infantile was11.61±0.36h. Compared tonormal age children’s sleep time standards of the Nissl pediatrics(13.50±1.50h), thesleep time is reduced by approximately1.9h. Compared to normal age children’s sleeptime standards of the Children’s Health Science (14.00±2.00h), the sleep time isreduced by approximately2.4h.5.The eczema infantile with sleep latency within30minutes up to57.7%,5–10minutes is at least(12.6%),30–60minutes is29.7%. Sleep at night to get up more thanthree times up to36.0%, Hardly get up is at least(28.8%),1to2times is35.1%.6.The parents think that infantile eczema with sleep quality medium up to45%,That parents think that infantile eczema with sleep quality good is at least(21.6%). Only33.3%of parents think that sleep quality of eczema infantile is poor. And the prevalenceof sleep disorders was higher than parents self-assessment of infantile eczema’s sleepquality, the differences was significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:1.The prevalence of sleep disorders and related symptoms was higher in infantileeczema than in normal age children.2.Compared to normal age children, sleep time of infantile eczema reduced by1to2hour.3.Compared to normal age children, sleep quality was very poor, the prevalence of sleep disorders was higher than self-assessment.4.This tells us that eczema is an important factor for sleep disorders in infant.
